A first-timer’s guide to driving in Dubai
Dubai’s roads are wide, well lit and clearly signed in English and Arabic. A few local habits make the first drive much easier.
Salik. Toll gates on the main highways charge automatically through a tag on the windscreen. Your rental car already has one.
Parking. Most malls offer free parking for the first hours. Street parking is paid by zone through the RTA app or meters.
Speed. Limits are posted clearly and enforced by cameras. Keep to the right-hand lanes unless overtaking.
